Our board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Laura Stokking, has a special interest in the diagnosis and management of infectious diseases such as MRSA, other resistant bacterial and fungal infections, and breed-specific dermatological diseases. Dr. Stokking treats all species of pets, not just dogs and cats.

Dr. Stokking is actively involved in clinical trials to study ways to improve the quality of life for the allergic patient, and to advance dermatologic therapies in multiple species. Rest assured, your pet’s skin health is our priority.

Laura Stokking PhD, DVM, DACVD

Dr. Laura Stokking is a graduate of Texas A&M University. She completed both an internship in Small Animal Surgery and Medicine and a residency in Veterinary Dermatology at the University of Illinois. She is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology. Veterinary medicine is a second career for Dr. Stokking, who holds a PhD in Earth Sciences from Scripps Institution of Oceanography. At the University of Illinois, she combined her prior training in fine-particle magnetic interactions with cutaneous neoplasia in a study of electron paramagnetic resonance of melanin in equine melanomatosis.

Dr. Stokking has a special interest in allergy and takes a multifaceted therapeutic approach to the management of allergic disease. She has strong interests in cutaneous manifestations of internal disease, comparative dermatology of immune-mediated disease, and the links between skin cancer and infectious disease. Dr. Stokking’s practice is not limited to dogs and cats, but also includes horses and other large animals.

Nicole A. Boynosky BVMS, MS

Dr. Boynosky is originally from northeast Pennsylvania. She obtained a Masters degree in laboratory animal science from Drexel University (formerly MCP Hahnemann) in Philadelphia. She crossed the Atlantic and lived in Scotland for 5 years graduating with distinguished honors from the University of Glasgow in 2007.

Dr. Boynosky practiced general medicine in Cherry Hill New Jersey from 2007 to 2010 and then moved to sunny southern California for an internship in Veterinary Dermatology. Dr. Boynosky is excited to be the first dermatology resident at VSH and is looking forward to the educational opportunities here. Some of her clinical interests include otitis externa, multi-drug resistant bacterial infections, and allergy. She lives with her retired racing Greyhound turned couch potato, Jack and her persnickety diabetic cat, Nigel.
