Veterinary Specialty Hospital Holiday Pet Food Drive an Overwhelming Success! A tremendous thank you goes to everyone who helped make Veterinary Specialty Hospital’s 5th annual holiday pet food drive such an overwhelming success! We had a goal to collect 5,000 pounds of cat and dog food. Due to the generosity of the entire San Diego community, 11,293 pounds of food was donated! This is over 5 ½ tons of pet food that will go to needy families throughout San Diego County to help keep pets and their families together. In addition, we received $5,725 in cash donations for the purchase of additional pet food – this won’t buy just a few more pounds of pet food. It translates to tons more pet food which will help beyond the holiday season.
Besides our wonderful clients and some of our referring partners who graciously placed barrels in their lobbies, the VSH staff kicked into high gear for this worthy cause. Teams were formed and using their personal network of families, friends, and social groups, and embracing a true competitive spirit, the VSH teams collected 4,310 pounds of dog and cat pet food. The Neurology team was the winner collecting the most food with a sincere and gracious thank you to everyone who participated. Appreciation also goes to the Jacobs-Cushman San Diego Food Bank for providing the barrels, making numerous trips to pick up the overflowing barrels, bags boxes & cans from our lobbies and having the distribution channels to be sure the food gets to the families in need.
Stay tuned for next year – should we go for 15,000 pounds?
