Technicians are taught normal ranges and normal waveforms and often enter the realm of anesthesia with confidence in recognizing when patients are doing well. But… what do you do when things may be going wrong? This lecture will focus on providing concrete clinically driven examples of common anesthetic issues with guidelines to troubleshoot. Is the problem with the equipment, the anesthesia, or the patient? The technician should feel empowered to take first steps to treat at-risk patients and know when to involve a veterinarian.

Drugs are scary. They can do more harm than good when used incorrectly. When things hit the fan and a patient comes running through the triage doors, what do you reach for and why? This lecture will focus on the common drugs used in emergencies and the rationale behind their use. The lecture will also go over CPR, starting with BLS and escalating to ALS.

Zoomies in a Bottle: A Practical Guide to Sympathomimetics
