Angus and Albert
Angus and Albert
Name: Angus (the cat)
Gender: Male Neutered
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Blood Type: Type A
Donor period: August, 2015 – September 2023
Fun Facts: His brother is Albert, the Golden Retriever. Angus was a blood donor for nearly his entire life (for eight years)! He has retired because of age, but lives a very happy life. Both his parents are also veterinarians.
Albert has been donating blood since he was just a year old. Now he’s so comfortable with the blood bank, he just walks in and lays on the donor table as he waits for blood bank coordinators to prepare blood collection supplies. After the blood donation, he is ready for his treats!
Saves: Albert has donated blood four times this year, but it has impacted 14 patients! With permission from our clients, we are able to share this story. One unit of Albert’s blood went to a 5 month old puppy named Arlo for ingesting high doses of an anti-inflammatory. Doctors here at Veterinary Specialty Hospital worked with doctors at UC Davis, where he received a total plasma exchange. The puppy is now full grown and living his best life.
