Dr. Joelle Fenger is a board-certified specialist in Medical Oncology. Dr. Fenger graduated from the University of California Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and completed her internship, residency, and PhD training at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine (OSU-CVM) in Columbus, OH. She is a Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Oncology. Dr. Fenger joined the OSU-CVM faculty in 2015 as an assistant professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences. Her research laboratory focused on understanding the contributions and consequences of microRNA dysregulation in canine and human sarcomas and preclinical evaluation of novel therapeutic interventions and agents for osteosarcoma. Her interests and goals are to leverage the comparative oncology approach to extend early preclinical findings into more translational applications in companion animals with cancer and address unmet needs surrounding the clinical care for pets suffering from cancer. Dr. Fenger has a dual role at Ethos as an Ethos Discovery Associate and a locum medical oncologist for Ethos Veterinary Health.

Away from work, Dr. Fenger is interested in travelling, gardening, running, antique show lurking (always on the lookout for mid-century modern inspired treasures!) and enjoying time with her cats Tanooki, Link and Bowser. She is thrilled to return to her home state of California and for the opportunity to meet and work with the talented team at VSH Sorrento Valley!
